Weekly Worship Opportunities
Centering Prayer is offered every Wednesday morning at 8:00 AM. A quiet form of meditation, it offers a way to focus on God's divine presence and pray the Scriptures. Prayer lasts between 30 and 45 minutes.
Our form of centering prayer combines two ancient traditions of meditation, centering prayer and lectio divina. In them, you will find the opportunity to begin your day in quite prayer and contemplation.
Centering prayer invites participants into divine silence to listen for God's voice and presence. Silence is the principle element of this part of prayer. Participants will find the joy and power of corporate silence.
Lectio Divina, latin for "holy reading", is a process of praying the scriptures. Rather than studying them, a specific reading is selected for the day and it is carefully meditated upon, listening for the still small voice of God present in the reading.
Together these two practices provide a structure for quite contemplation that will help focus your day. The weekly gathering provides an opportunity to join with others in prayer and to encourage you within your daily prayer life. On a daily basis you may find one or both practices benificial. The more they are practiced, the more meaningful they become.
