TEEN MOMS is a group for teen-age moms and pregnet girls that meets weekly. A program of Arbor Circle, it meets every Tuesday at Peace Lutheran during the school year.
Providing support, guidance, and knowledge,TEEN MOMS helps young women to manage being a mom, a student, and a teen.
A public health nurse and professional social worker lead the group activities where moms can:
- Share the joys and frustrations of parenting.
- Understand their child’s needs at different stages of growth.
- Gain new confidence as parents.
- Develop new friends and a support network.
- Enhance parent-child relationships.
- Learn how to maintain a healthy pregnancy.
- Expand parenting skills.
While moms participate in group with other moms, infants and toddlers are provided quality care. Children benefit from:
- A safe and nurturing environment
- Promotion of a positive self-image
- Age appropriate experiences that promote physical, social, emotional and intellectual development
- Infants remain with their mothers.
Transportation to TEEN MOMS may be available for those who need it and live within the designated area.
