discipleship_journeyDiscipleship groups are simply a way to help every Christian learn discipleship and be the best disciple of Jesus Christ possible.

Disciple is a church word borrowed from Latin that means "student" or "follower".  In Christianity, it is following Jesus Christ and his teachings.  In discipleship we strive to live our lives following Jesus.  Discipleship groups are one tool we use to help each other be faithful disciples.

They are not Bible study, though participation in them will likely help you understand the Bible better. They are not support groups, though participation in them will make you feel supported and encouraged.  They are no fellowship, though participation in them will help you meet people in our congregation.

Discipleship groups are designed to help you to live as a faithful disciple, encouraging you, challenging you, and guiding you.  Each group that is formed develops it’s own covenant that guides how it will operate.  The covenant states how often the group will meet, how it will spend the time together, and what is expected of each member.

Discipleship groups are places where individuals can be totally open and honest about their struggles and their joys.  As a result, each discipleship group is closed to new members.  As need arises, new groups will be formed and occasionally an old group may be asked to split and form multiple groups with new members.   The content and conversation of Discipleship groups is kept strictly confidential.

Discipleship groups meet a various times and places.  Some meet for lunch or before work.  Others meet after worship.
