Eric grew up in Ludington, Michigan and describes its proximity to the big lake and its state park a beautiful place to grow up.  A student of DePaul University in Chicago, Eric studied Religion, concentrating on early Christianity/2nd temple Judaism and Yoga/Tantra in Buddhist traditions.

Camp Michi-Lu-Ca has been a huge part of Eric’s life since he was 8 years old.  He recounts, “Ever since that first week of camp, I believe I received a calling to continue work for the kingdom of God through youth ministry.  If it was not for camp, my faith would not have grown the way it has and I would not be the person I am today.”

Eric served as camp counselor and lifeguard at Michi-Lu-Ca for three summers and Program Director for one.

If camp is a large part of Eric’s life, so is music.  Playing guitar since age 12, he has included banjo, piano, mandolin and harmonica in his music.  Eric is an active member of band “Drake” and has played all over the Midwest.  The band’s musical style is diverse, inclusive, and engaging.

Eric’s family is as diverse as he: Dad is an electrician by trade and a musician by heart, Mom is a college counselor but photographer by heart, sister is a great singer, and fiancé Tammy is finishing her nursing degree but also engaged in music.

Eric describes his role as Youth Director in this way:  “My mission is to provide a safe and fun environment in which youth can grow and live their faith journey through Jesus Christ while promoting leadership skills, community service, and self respect.  Youth ministry is not only for young people;  it is for the entire community.”
